A w124, w202, and a few bimmers
Yeah my 93 300e has the same issue... going out it will be sluggish and i would have to assist it with my hand.... when closing it, it works just fine? And sometimes it will open fine too... I don't get it. Hopefully, nothing is broken back there, as I really don't want to rip apart my headliner to find out.

I lubed the silver rails on both sides and it seemed to help. You can see the rails from the outside with it open.

...

dont stay in this forum much anymore.... i basically did the same thing as shdoug... dont use wd40 because it will leak down on to your head liner....

owe... and i changed the switch... im sure it didnt need it... and i probably could have just cleaned the metal prongs on the old one.... but i got a good deal on the switch so i replaced it as well....
