My father has recently purchased an ex hong kong w124. It is 88 or 89 with a single overhead cam six. It has the full amg bodykit and amg twin exhaust (tips at least). It has the amg steering wheel, alloys and low suspension (it also has a radar detector). It has most (if not all options) including electric seats, sunroof etc. The only badges it has are amg and the mercedes star. It has no model nomenclature (e.g. 300E, 260E etc.).
Is this an amg mercedes (like clk55) or is it a mercedes with amg options (e.g. like clk500 with amg susp, wheels, badges etc). Is there a compliance plate to clear it up.
If it is an amg model, what sort of power outputs does it have? It is only single cam so can it be anything other than a 3 litre?
It is left hand drive and is being converted as we speak. It only has 60000kms (around 35000miles) and does not appear to have been repainted.
I have many more questions, but I will leave it at this.

The only owners manuals we have with it are in Hong Kongish. The book has AMG in the top right corner. We have nothing to say 300E anywhere. Does this mean anything? The exhaust is full Amg, with amg pressed into the twin tips and the bracket that meets the manifold. The steering wheel is a beautiful thing too. A small(er) black leather jobby with AMG.
Is the sohc engine in the amg different at all. I hear that the 300e is at least 160kw with the amg exhaust fitted.
