Cold airtake system

Cold airtake system

Suring E bay, people is selling cold airtake system. The concept seems right, does it work? Will change of air flow damage the MB original engine system?

NO they only let hot air in. Yes they will flow more air but the heat will negate most of your gains. I own a 95 E 320 and I do not know if your air box is the same but I gutted mine (took out the silencer) when I had the air box removed I noticed there was room to remove the intake from behind the lights so I did making the intake of the box much larger. I then painted a piece of plastic pipe 4" I believe and put it through the cold air inlet in behind the headlight. I then added a K&N finter and it works sweet (no water gets in, keeps the hot air out, looks stock except to mercedes people)

most of the so called cold air intake systems sold are tested with the hood open.. and in reality they are only useful with the hood open..with the hood closed they are probably worst than stock ones.. to get real cold air intake all u need is a booster pipe connected to the stock airbox intake from one end and other end opening somewhere outside the hoob and engine heat..

replace ur stock filter with some high flow one.. connect a thick booter pipe to stock air box and leave the other end open somewhere cold..
