I just sold my 1994 E320 and "upgraded" to the W210 and "oh my gawd" what a MISTAKE!! What did MB do to this car? There is no comparison between the 2 models. The w210 (1998) has rust all through it..and this car has NEVER been in an accident with only 85000 Kilometers (50K miles +-). The 94 had 310000 kil. and no rust except for stone chips. I will be selling the 98 next week and looking for a 94 / 95 E320....even with the wiring harness / head gasket issues it is a far superior car than the W210 E320...and I suspect the E420/ E500. Eventually I will need a newer car...I can only hope the W211 doesn't suffer from the same lack of attention to detail and MB fired the QC staff responsible for the 210 embarrassment. I am watching the 211 forum very closely. I really hope it just an "oversight" or "experiment" that has caused this lapse in quality. I have love(d) the benz for years, like all of you, (I have owned 8) but I am so disillusioned with this car......WOW..it is bad! Great looks...but only skin deep!! So unlike Mercedes!
PS: fortunately I still have a 90 300E that my wife wouldn't let me sell (God Bless a womens intuition)...so I can enjoy what a Mercedes should feel like.

I had a '94 e320 and upgraded to a 99 e320. While I feel the 124 was more solid and bullet proof, the 210 hasn't let me down either. To me, the technological advancement of the 210 was a good enough argument to upgrade from the 124.

It's a very well documented problem here in the UK (probably because it rains all the time!).
Only a nice R129 would tempt me away from the W124.
