Coolent Leak somewhere HELP!!!!

2 weeks ago my coolent light lit up on the dash. so i filled er up and was proud of my handy work. so a week goes by and on my way to work my light comes on again. So durring the day i look out the front door at my car, and underneith it i see a small puddle forming, i dabbed it with a cloth and its my coolent fluid. so wtf where can it be coming from? some dink at a garage said over the phone it could be my water pump and said its 600 to fix . so that day i refilled the coolent and this morning that f-ing light came on again. i went through a 3l jug of coolent in 2 weeks. anyone know what could be wrong? Crossing my fingers. thanks everyone

Check the radiator neck at the top of the radiator going into the thermostat housing. The plastic Bher Radiators are notorious for breaking and leaking at that spot. Hope it's not the water pump becasue they are a ***** to get at. If you do get everything back watertight, be sure and use only Mercedes Benz brand antifreeze when you refill. This is one of the few things that the M-B brand is actually necessary. The regular green antifreez will corrode your cooling system.

No problem, there is something about the differnet types of silicia that the Merceds Brand coolant has. They M-B brand supposedly will not harm the radiator. It is more a yellowish red color. However, when regular green coolant is mixed with the M-B brand, they interact and cause a lot of corrosion. I went to look at a 300E for sale and the seller was showing me the notorious spot on the radiator that was leaking. He barely touched that spot and the whole radiator neck broke off in his hands! Needless to say I passed on that car.

Whatever you do don't buy those "Stop Coolant Leaks" from gas stations, they make the problem worst.

You can flush the radiator yourself, but having done it I would seriously consider paying a mechanic $100 to do it. There is a drain screw at the bottom of the radiator and there are drain plugs on the engine block. You need to drain and flush the fluid from both these areas before adding the new coolant. It's a pain and you have to make sure that you collect all the old collant so you don't violate about 30 EPA regulations and kill all the neighborhood cats.

08 Lexus GS350 AWD. 08 Lexus RX350 AWD - wife's. 94 MBZ E320 - still have it.
I would pressure-check the system before spending any money.
