Need your advise on E420. New to W124
I am looking at purchasing 1995 E420 with 78K miles for $10K.
Car is in good condition visually, however oil pressure after start is on 1.5 vs 3 mark and car has rough idle.
What are the things I should look for before making a purchase?
Any honest MB mechanic in Los Angeles area I can take the car for inspection to?
Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

I believe these cars have the dreaded engine wiring harness problem. The wire insulation gets brittle and flakes off. This may be the cause of the poor idle. Check to see if this car has that problem or whether the wiring has been replaced. Once the wiring is replaced the car is fine. It's easy to replace, it's just that the part costs a lot. This could be a bargaining chip.

Get the VIN and call the local dealer's service dept. In most cases they'll run the VIN through the MB data base and they should tell you the MB history they can access. Won't (of course) give you non-MB records.
I believe these babies are due for the BIG tune up at around 60K miles. They have dual distributors and all that that entails. I'm sort of dreading it as I'm reaching that mileage indicator in a couple months.
I love the car. Get your info, take it to a reputable wrench and have it gone over with a fine toothed comb. It'll cost you $150 - $200, but it's a good investment.
Ciao for now,
