Owning a 500E/E500???

How's everyone? I'm curious, does anyone who owns or owned a 500E/E500 ever regret owning it? Has anyone ever gone from owning a current model Merc to a w124 500E/E500? I'm madly in love with the W124 500E/E500. I still however have 2 years to go on my lease of a 03 cl203, but right now on top of my list for next car is that badass w124. I'm just frightend I get one and go broke on the maintenance. For example the current and unfortunate situation of V8power E500, that would destroy me. Any insights and opinions are welcome and appreciated.

i dont have a e500/500e.. but i do have a e320 as well as a newer (02) w203 c240... as far as switching between cars... and rating the 2 of them... i'm really GLAD i did not get ride of my e320. the e320 has plenty of power... and i could only image how powerful the e500 would be. they are 2 totally different cars... the w124 is (IMO) a much more simplistic car that looks great even after 11 years (i have 94)...... in all honesty i would much rather drive my w124 across country any day before i would drive the c240. I have just recently fallen back in love with my w124... i guess it took back seat in the garage because the w203 was newer.... the w124 and w123 are IMO some of the best built MB cars to date... better than any of the new models that they have out... (maybe not an AMG though... but im not sure.. dont have one of those... maybe in 07)

as far as quality and performance.. you will not be dis satisfied... as long as the car you purchase was taken car of..

my 2 cents

i love my 500E... i loved this car and i never regret buying it.
about my engine, there was water on the road and i didn't know there was a dip where the water level reached my windshield... the water got in the air filter and inside the engine, the car shut off and then when i tried to start it i blew my engine i should't have tried to start the engine

Hey man thanks for the motivational info. That really sucks about your engine. WOW the waterlevel reached your windshield, that's scary. But I hope your car will come out better than you had it before. Have you decided on what you're going to do? It looks really good from that thumnail picture you have in your signature. I would love to see more pics of it.

Great car but not cheap to maintain, especially at this age.

No one can argue the quality and finish of a W124. I went from a 190E 2.6 to the 500E...no regrets. Still a better car than any new Mercedes (flame away at that one guys !!)

I have a W124 280 E... Solid as a rock..Also have a 2.5-16v Cosworth, I want to get rid of the Cosworth eventually and Buy a 500 E, hopefully a low millage one..

I'm just putting some knowledge together now and trying to get some cash sorted.. I've seen a few about for sale but I want to be able to buy then throw a few grand at it..
