The Convertible/Limo front bar is bigger than the 500E.
Do a search for swaybars.

Bingo... I run the "limo" (actually, 124 Cabriolet Sportline) front and 500E rear bar. Call Rusty to order (800-741-5252). You can use an Eibach/H&R rear W210 bar (20mm) which is bigger than the 500E (18mm) if you want the back end stiffer.

I am going to get my bonus before next Friday and I am FINALLY going to get the bars for my car. I just wanted to confirm that you think Rusty is the guy to call to get the big bars and bushings. I trust your advice Dave M. from Boise, so I just wanted to be sure you were giving Rusty your vote of confidence.

Thanks,

Ken

I still recommend Rusty. He recently changed to a different dealer though, after his old supplier (Lokey Motors) got a new manager that didn't want to do wholesale accounts anymore (stupid move on their part, IMO). I'm not sure if the new dealer is as reliable/dependable since I haven't sent enough orders in yet (I had over a dozen through Lokey with minimal problems.) The only other place you can get dealer parts at wholesale is Caliber Motors (in SoCal). Wouldn't hurt to call them and get pricing for the two bars, then when you call Rusty make sure his price is the same... please let me know if you have *any* problems, btw!

try tom hansen at caliber motors 1.800.252.6877, it can't hurt.

it pays to shop

they are a mb dealer with a wholesale parts dept.

it isn't that rusty isn't a good guy, just get the MOST for your money

Yup, Caliber is the other place to get OE parts at wholesale. For CA residents, Rusty can be a bit cheaper since there's no sales tax, but shipping is from the east coast (NC) so heavy items may offset some of that. Six of one, half-dozen of the other.

BTW - I was told that Tom Hanson no longer works at Caliber. Rusty should match (or beat) Caliber's price but make sure to inquire about shipping costs, especially for large items like sway bars, or heavy items like brake rotors.

I will do the PM too

[QUOTE=Jim's500E]If you want a CT dealer to wholesale the parts to you and ship for free....PM me.QUOTE]

Hello Jim’s500E,

Thank you for the invitation. I am ready to make the purchase, but I have not yet called for any prices. I was going to start with my own dealer, just as a frame of reference and then I was going to contact Rusty (800-741-5252) and Tom Hansen at Caliber Motors (800-252-6877).

I do like the idea of getting things from the dealer, except for the price. I was only burned twice by Internet related purchases, which I suppose is quite low considering how many things I have purchased online, but now I am a little leery about buying things from somewhere other than a business with brick and mortar. Maybe I could get the best of both worlds, by purchasing from a CT dealer at wholesale price with free shipping. Do you recommend any specific dealer?

Thanks again,

Ken

Sure man, its smart savvy to get prices from different places. To this day it still amazes me how different parts prices are across the country.

1 (800) 437-3361 ...anyone in parts will hook you up...mention my name and that you are a MBCA member (you need to be to get wholesale). If you aren't, let me know and I'll advise them to give you the discount on my tab.
