MERCEDES W124 260E
Smile 260e

Hello!

PLEASE....I want to buy a 1988 260E Mercedes with air conditioning, electric mirrors, ABS..etc.. The mileage 250.000.
The offer is for 4500 EURO. I saw the car and it is in very good condition (many things replaced - at the brakes..etc)
DO YOU THINK IT'S WORTHING?

Can you please tell me something about the consumption of a 1988 260E (2600 cmc) Mercedes? With and without air condition....In town and outside?

I have tried to measure it and I want to know if it is to much.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

260E , 1989 (for now)
I don't know about your local used car market, but a 1988 260E in good shape would sell for approx. Euro2,800. in Canada.
I have owned a 1989 260E for many year and this is a very reliable car. With mileage at 250,000, expect to spend some money on maintenance and repair.
Consumption: Around 8 liters per 100km is possible at reasonnable speeds on hyways.
In town, with the A/C on, with a heavy right foot,it will get down up 12liter per 100KM. There are so many variables.

Thank you

Thank you for your reply.
In my country, there is a problem in registering the cars without EURO3. So, the already registered cars are expensive (for example...a 1987 200D without ABS and AC, nothing electric, has been seld with 7200 Euro !!!!) . So, you can imagine...
ABout the consumption...I have measured aprox the same values!
