96 E 320 and 87 560 SL
Check engine light
Check engine light came on last night on my 96 E320 and display said check engine electronics. Car runs fine, just that annoying light glaring out at me from the dash. I was able to get it into my German mechanic this morning. Hoping it isn't something serious, maybe an O2 sensor or something.
Is there any way to check error codes on this model without plugging it into a computer?

I'm having the same issue. Mine was running fine also but then I smelled gas and it started to run ruff. I don't no what it is I go in Friday to find out. I smell gas when it happens though. Funny thing is when it does happen I turn off the car and then turn it back on and poof the car is running smooth again.

I would take it to your Local Autozone, ask for a OBD-II scanner and they can hook it up to your car, which is located under the dash board on the driver side and it has a door flap panel and they can read the codes when you get an engine check light. The best part of it, there is no charge for it. So you can be able to diagnose the problem.. Don't you love computer technologies. They make things easier.
