Trunk lid latch releasing when key removed!!!

Trunk lid latch releasing when key removed!!!
Help..I have a 1998 E Class... my trunk lid is springing up when I'm taking my key out of the ignition.... what the *@#* is going on???

Nope, not touching the trunk release..I tested it 15 times or better...just the ghost in the machine I suppose...I did manually lock the trunk (turned the manual key to position 3) to stop it from opening....the next day, I unlocked it, and for now the problem seems to have fixed itself. Go figure....
