I saw it at the warehouse when I stopped by to pick up the headlight over the weekend. They're don't look as nice as the chrome one.

I'm suprise that the price is the same as the chrome version, since it must have cost quite a bit to paint/chrome the headlight housing.

However, I think it would look nice on black car with blacken grill.

Any thoughts on the chrome/silver version. Has anyone seen them installed. They look cool in the pics. I was thinking about putting them on my silver 97 E320.

I've seen those before. They are not that nice, they look something like a military or some rivets on a car. Smoked would have been nice though.

AutoDynamic (where I get the Depo headlight) doesn't even stock them anymore, just keep one for showcase. They said it's slow sale, and most, if not all, customer come back and ask to exchange for the chrome ones.

That's why for people who ask me to do retrofit w/ black light, I ask for full payment up front, and no exchange/refund :v

Both of those have been tagged very poor quality by Zam. I also noted that
the black version is not designed to accept an HID retro easily, should you
decide. The Depo projector version is of better quality, and the housing
allows for easy converison to HID.

of the paired links in blackstunna's post, yes, I agree those are same/similar.
but they're a far cry from the Depo in terms of quality. I finally saw the non-
Depo version and I agree with Zam.

Sweet, let us know how that retro turns out, especially with that projector.
I've only used the E55 bix projectors given their utter simplicity with the Deop.
Hope yours is with similiar ease....though the beam pattern should be better.

I heard the Depo ones are decent quality based on Godfathers testemonial. IF i do not want to do HID retrofit and just plan on using xenon-style bulbs will the Depo's do just fine?

from my experience, no. the lens seems to be the weak link in the chain.
between that and the so-so reflector, the beam spread I had was segmented
from left to right. so even if you inserted in a Silverstar or Blue Vision et al,
you just get slightly brighter segmented beams. (roughly $50)

Zam's strong recommendation is to forego the Depo projector lens and try
to find a Hella brand halogen lens and to fit that on. (roughly $100)

next upgrade would be to spend more creativity and labor and in dropping in
an HID, ballast, D2S taken off RS6 or E55 (roughly $4-500)

prices above are in addition to the Depo headlight units themselves ($300)

no, the actual glass round thing right in front of the bulb. if you had
two of them in your hand and put them in front of your eyes, you look
look a computer geek. those ones...

those are one of the crucial links of the HID package. have a poorly designed
lens and your beam can go to heck. it's this thing that focuses and channels
the light and projects out into the darkness.
