Tough Steel

I am installing a Da'Lan trailer hitch on my 2000 E320 wagon. The installation requires dirlling 2 - 7/16 inch holes on both sides in the back of the wells. This steel is very tough. I am drilling 1/8 inch pilot holes first but the steel is about 1/10 inch thick at that point and it is dulling the drill bit very quickly. I would caution anyone who wants to perform this install to be patient and have a good drill and bits.
