If you do you'll violate US federal law as well as your state laws, as well as contributing excessive emissions to our atmosphere. Contrary to what you may hear modern testing equipment can determine whether the cat is functional, but that largely is a factor of the testing facility. If you live somewhere that they don't have emission testing then search the web for a "catalytic converter test pipe" and that will just replace the cat. You'll still be in violation of the law and pumping excess emissions, but if your goal is to get rid of the cat that will work.

Have you thought about just chipping up the ECU?

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

we have no emissions where i live. i want to do that and superchip it. i have no idea how that works. it should run alot better with it off right? or would it not have enough back pressure?

just wanting more power without haveing to do motor work, my wheels and stereo have slowed it down!

removing your cats will make your car louder and the computer may have problems reading the air/fuel ratio's causing your car to run too lean or too rich. You might have to get O2 simulators, but those have issues as well. Too lean makes hp but can blow your motor up real quick. Too rich and your car will lose Hp and run very sluggish. As far as a 20hp gain, I think that is crap. Maybe if your car has 450hp to beging with. I'm not sure what motor you have but removing cats won't help you as much as you think. My guess is you wouldn't even notice the Hp gain. All you would notice is an exhaust that make more noise.
Good luck
