Rear speakers missing on E320 Wagon

My 2000 E320 Wagon doesn't have any rear speakers. That's because, of course, there is no rear hat shelf, so the normal place for the rear speakers isn't there in the wagon. As a result, the factory stereo (I think it's the optional Bose system) sounds like garbage because it has no bass because the rear woofers don't exist. I'm wondering if anybody knows whether the amp in the wagon is the same as the amp in the sedan. If so, I should be able to put some woofers in the back of the wagon and wire them to the existing amp. Does anyone know whether the amp is the same or not?

Yes, the sub-woofer is behind the passenger side load area removeable panel. It looks like a lump in the upper left portion with a little circular grill like opening at the rear of the lump. I won't disagree with you about the quality of the bass.
