You really should keep the exact overall tire diameter at all 4 corners on the 4Matic. You could do 19x8.5 w/ 245/35-19 all the way around. If the overall wheel+tire diameter is even slightly different front to back -- as it usually is with staggered setups -- it may cause the 4ETS to kick it and puts constant extra strain on the center differential.
Keep in mind that large wheels look best when you lower the car, which is $$$ to do on the 4Matic. The 4Matic suspension already sits slightly higher than the RWD models.
I don't know if 19x9.5 rims would fit without rolling the fenders.
