adding sportiness to my e320

So I'm the new owner of a 97 e320, 42k original miles, 1 owner, I paid 15,500k, probably too much but it's flawless, looks virtualy new. Its completely stock, and I'm looking for ways to give it a little more sporty look, Ive seen the auctions for the sports grill.. the silver rings that go around the headlights... are these any good. So what the heck do I do to it....... need input....

Hi trioxin,
I am in the same boat. I just bought a 97 42k this week. I have been trying to get some info(see clear tail light post) as well, but its like pulling teeth to get a straight answer. Dont even think about mentioning clear lights. They are taboo here. Let me know what you come up with and I will do the same.

Hey Tat, contrary to your believe, people in this forum are very helpfull and supporting in giving views, opinions and suggestions. U probably didn't get a lot of response to your clear tail light thread, because its like talking about the same thing over and over. Unlike some of us that just acquire our Benzes, A lot of folks in this forum has had theirs for a long time and have done what U are trying to do many years ago and talk about the same thing over and over.
TAke advantage of the "SEARCH" button on the website. there are thousand of threads that talk about upgrading the look of our "E"
If you have any question/s, do a search first, if you couldn't find the answer to your curiousity or questions, post your question/s and people will respond.
Talking about your reference to your thread of clear tail light..... You were not specific about what you want to do.
IF you want the new look...MY00+... You can get clear tail light from ebay OR dealer (we call them "stealer" in here). I personally have the smoked one....some people preffer the clear one...., but you have to modify the light to fit your car, there are threads that talk abou that too. I did mine in about 30mins.
So TAT, don't discourage anyone from seeking info from the forum.

Welcome to MBW to both of you and enjoy your rides. I have a '96 and loving it....U can do a lot to your W210....tail light, head light, clear side markers, rims, tint, navigation...command OR aftermarker, body kit, flat hood emblem, chrome rings, chrome gear shift panel, chrome trunk handle, grill. and so on....NOT every one like the same thing...
GooD Luck Guys and Enjoy the mercedes benz world....As for me I'm a Benz Lover for life!!!! I'm Hooked!

2012 E350 coupe Black/Almond, 61k miles in 2020
I did a quasi AMG treatment to my Black 2001 E320 when I purchased it. I have been very happy with it.

17" AMG chromed wheels with Pirelli PZero Rosso tires
Eibach Springs to lower the car 1.5"

6 months ago, I added the Koni adjustable gas shocks, installed at the softest setting, after the originals started to get soft at 50,000 miles (due to being lowered). In retrospect I may have just gotten another pair of stock shocks. The Koni's are a lot stiffer, but I've gotten used to it.

I've also added chromed headlight trim, and a nice walnut burl shift knob.

Thumbs up Browse the forums

for mod ideas, benzworld has some nice stuff, too.

Another popular mod is the wood insert steering wheel, that's my next one. If yours has the stock wheels, new ones are also very popular (my first two mods were a K&N filter and new wheels). 19s or 20s will increase the harshness of the ride quite a bit, 17s and 18s not so much.

For now, though, just enjoy the ride. They are sweeeeet cars.

I know a lot of people have bought the K&N filter, but also some have had problems with their MAF as a result. I have purchased a Mann and Bosch air filter, and the Bosch is more expensive, but air flows through it as if there is nothing there...

It seems that Trioxin wasn't really specific when he mentioned "clear tails" so it could mean one of two things:

1. The tacky looking Altezza-style clear tail-lights you see on every other Honda Accord and Civic out on the road. Those are the ones that are "frowned upon" here so to speak because well, they would look horrible on a Mercedes!

or

2. The MY 2000+ W210 tail-lights that (as mentioned above by d2Benz) a lot of owners on this board have installed on their own rides, with great results.

Anyhow, welcome to the club you two and enjoy everything that MBW has to offer for our lovely cars! There is indeed a ton of great information available here at your fingertips on how to mod your cars. Use it wisely.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and info. I know what you guys are saying about the clear lights now. As far as the My 00+...are they the E55 lights or some other?
