Hi Guys, Thanks for the detailed writeup. Over here in the UK you need a T25 to remove the airbag. I've got that far but the Allen nut will not budge. Admittedly I am on my own but I have had three foot bar one side and three foot of 2x2 on the other and given it all I can from above. I lift big heavy weight three times a week. I am a reasonably large lad.

Are some of these reverse thread?

I've also tried a hammer and chisel and tried tapping/striking it round. I cut my teeth on series III Land Rovers so it's not like I don't give it the required amount of pasty. Has anyone got any good ideas? If I haven't already, if I continue on the current tack I will do myself an injury. Failing help here, I will consult my mechanic and his lads with some very large Snap on bars.

I swapped a steering wheel from a W210 E55 into my W210 E320 wagon a few years ago and there were no reverse threads. It was really as straight forward as you could get providing you had the right tools. As already mentioned having the right setup to get the airbag off helped and I used an impact on the nut holding the wheel on.

Here's my drunken wright up with deleted pics (oops). What I wrote is still there and could potentially be helpful. I also added the process to clear the codes that you may get at the end of my post.

Hope this helps a bit. Sorry I deleted the pics.

Thank you very helpful. I used the three foot bars and bounced the nut. It came loose eventually. However now I have an airbag SRS warning and it won't go away. My car is too old to have an OBD II computer so costly to get the codes cleared and that might not sort it. I have an airbag resistor coming from eBay so I can see if the SRS warning goes out and if its for some strange reason the airbag. The other possibility is the steering angle sensor.

It's a problem because I have to represent my car to and its MOT within 7 days and it might be an automatic fail. You're so lucky in some regard in the US and not so much in others.

Thanks for your reply, Chris
