1998 E320

Problems with the E320?

Last year my mother received a 1998 E320 as a mother's day gift... I don't pretend to like her car... but I'm trying to help find out if there are lots of common problems with this car. The engine has already been rebuilt since we got it... maintenence is done regularly... but it was drinking oil... it was covered under warranty... apparently there was a "bad batch" of the 3.2L motors. The big problem here is... the stinkin' thing goes through light bulbs like there's no tomorrow! Yesterday she took it in for service (the loaner car for the day was a Saturn... what kinda crap is that?) because lightbulbs are out and a window wouldn't go down correctly... and on her way home yet another lightbulb went out. The mechanic apparently said something about badly designed electrical systems in this chassis, is there truth to this?

Thanks... I'm not an MB enthusiast... they don't offer manual tranny's in almost any of their cars... but I love my Audi (98.5 A4 1.8T) and I love German cars... thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Also... whats the name of the MB color thats dark silver? Thats what color her car is... its rare... I've only seen it once or twice besides on her car.
