transmission problem
i have a 97 e320 with 62,000 miles.
when slowing down, i can feel the transmission downshift in a jerky way from 3rd gear to 2nd.
or if im rolling at about 12-15 mph, and give some gas the trans will slightly jerk before going into gear.
acording to the dealer, the trans fluid level is fine and the trans fluid should last the life of the car.
anyone else experience this?

97 E420 with 57k miles
I have a 97 E 420, at the time it had 55k miles on it, when I experienced the same problem. At first, the dealer said it was the control module for the tranny and they replaced it. After the replacement, the car then did the shudder when I was speeding up from 1st to 2nd. I took it back and they replaced the entire tranny. Now it works great. This work was covered by the Star mark warranty, thank goodness.

When you change the fluid/filter inspect the bottom of the transmission pan for clutch material..and The condition of the Fluid...I Bet it WILL be burned

in 97, some trannies are sealed units. how can i drain fluid or change the filter?
i heard i can remove the drain pan, but should this be performed?

Sounds like you have a transmission control module issue. It's unlikely that you need a fluid change at that mileage. Did you recently spill a drink near the transmission shift lever?
