2001 MB E320
Smile Hello

Hello people, this will be my first MB, My preivious car before this was VW 1.8t passat w/ Ko4 turbo, Chipped ECU, Alpine system....sold it. i guess its time to move up. Well, Brother bought this MB and decided he wanted a newer used MB and asked me to take over. Not bad at all, 1998 E320, down side is stereo system may need changing and speakers and maybe new tires in few months.
Any suggestions on changing the stereo systems i.e. head unit, speakers. Also, i've notice that most members are using Mobile 1 0w-30. I've been using Lubro Moly for my VW and read the back of the container and noticed its MBZ certified. Has anyone used Lubro Moly in their MB?

Hey Kanji, welcome to the forum!

i think you could pretty much throw in any kind of CD tuners in the 98 E320..I have a 97 E280, and i got rid of my OEM beckers for pioneer CD unit. changed my front and rear speakers to ultimate combo speakers, and my very rear speakers to Masters combo splits...

Mass diff with the OEM speakers, which are crap..

Regards,
Karlson

depending where you live (hot climate vs.cooler) 0w40 is the way to go if you get 4 seasons in your area.

Kanji,

The only Mobil 1 oil approved for use in the US is 0-40 European formula. Check the forum for other brands to use. MB 229.5 is the spec to look for on the back of the oil container. The new fleece oil filter is the one to buy. If you are draining the oil from through the sump plug, replace the copper crush ring (washer) and the torque for the plug is 25 nm (18 lb ft).

How did you hook up your deck? What harness did you use to hook up your HU? Did you re-wire all of your speakers? I don't really want to splice into the wire and hope to avoid it. I'm looking to put an alpine HU with my old systems from my previous car. Alpine HU with 18w rms and 30w peak built in amp, and to replace the speakers with HarmonKardon speaker. I have 2 pairs of Component HK speakers for the front and 2 pairs of full range for the back and another mid/bass woofer for the back. Hopefully it all fits till i figure what harness to use for the HU. thanx for the info.

I double check the Lubro Moly container and its listed MB's 229.5, I was thinking of using it 5w-30 or 5w-40. I've used Lubro Moly ever since i bought my VW passat and now would like to use it for MBE320. My climate in my area is kinda weird like most areas, gets really cold during the winter and really hot during the summer and cool through out fall and spring.
