Insurance Settlement on my E420
For those of you who read "totalled by a Ford", I have an update. The insurance company who covered the woman who hit us made a settlement offer today. There initial offer was $13,900 for the car plus taxes and tag. That is a fair offer on a regular 97' E420. I held out and sent them information due to the upgrades that I had made. I also proceeded to get an offer from my insurance company.
The lady's insurance company, The Hartford, came back with $200 more dollars. My insurance company, Electric Insurance, came back with a $15,700 offer plus taxes and tag. I was able to work out a deal to get that amount and also swap out 3 of the original rims I had saved with the 3 good 18" rims left on the car. So I am pretty satisfied with my company. They, in turn, will go after The Hartford for that amount.
I expect the check by Monday and I will be in the "car shopping" mode. My wife says I never leave the "mode". Right before the accident, I had worked out a deal to sell my 72' MGB and purchase an 83' Porsche 928 S4. I am going to pick it up Saturday afternoon. Wish me luck.

I picked up the Porsche 928S in Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon. I started heading South toward Huntsville, Alabama. The car ran well until I reached Knoxville, Tennessee. While I was visiting family in Knoxville, it started running extremely rough. I was able to limp back to Huntsville and get it in my garage. After some head scratching and checking the plugs/wires/and distributor, I started looking for leaks in the intake. Low and behold I found two ports on the side of the air intake and one of them was open and sucking air. The other had a cap over it. I made a plug for the other port and I am back in business. The car is back running well. I should get my brake job and oil change completed tonight and I will be back on the road.
I am still waiting on my money from the insurance company to get my next Benz. Until then I am having some fun with my new toy.
here is the photo off Ebay.
