E320 Steering Wheel Bent??
I went to look at a 99 E320 today. Very nice, 32k miles, seller claimed never damaged and selling for 19k.
The problem was the angle of the steering wheel. It was angled to the left(I think it was left) by quite a bit. It appeared that one side was 1 to 1.5 inches closer to me.
Is this normal? I know that some cars have a slightly angled steering wheel, but I have never seen one like this.
Thanks

Steering Wheel Angle
I just purchased a '99' E320 4matic Wagon (Estate) and I thought maybe it had been in a wreck but it seems more likely that for whatever reason the steering wheel is angled to the left making my right hand closer to me then my left with both hands on the wheel. I have had the vehicle inspected and it was also inspected by the dealership I purchased it from whom I have trusted for many other purchases. In both cases there were no indications the car had been in any serious collisions which would cause this problem. I spoke to Mercedes and they are unaware of it being a feature or a flaw, their suggestion of course was get it to a dealer for an inspection. I have been performing a few tests with a level and it does appear when the wheel is turned so the top is at the bottom the angle is greater then with the wheel top up. Its very strange, may be worth the trip to the dealer, see what they have to say.

The steering wheel should be centered horizontally when the vehicle is going straight. If the wheel alignment is ok, it's possible someone removed the steering wheel and failed to match it to the exact tooth on the spindle when they reinstalled it. The dealer should be able to check it.
