Speaker sizes for 210 w/Bose?

What are the oem speaker sizes for a 210 (specifically 1997 model, if it matters) with Bose sound system? My CD changer just quit, so I might as well just redo the entire system to get clearer sound. Thanks.

bose

Why would you change bose speakers? As long as they are not busted if I was you would not touch it. I think they are great. Just add a woofer or some nice accessory to make it sound better.

I think the doors are shallow 6 1/4", but I'm not positive. Search the archives. I know this has been discussed many times.

If you plan to keep the stock Bose amp, you'll need low impedance speakers (e.g. 2 ohm) to maintain compatibility.

The head unit makes the biggest difference in sound quality. The stock Becker unit sucks. I'd try a new head unit (& changer) before messing with the speakers. You may decide the benefits don't justify the expense of new speakers.

New head unit requires a VW wiring harness, available at just about any car audio shop.

Thank you. Plan was to replace the whole system (HU, amps, speakers) but if the HU by itself makes such a big difference in SQ, I'll give that a try first. Which brings me to my next question:

Is there a CD/MP3 head unit with Sirius controls out there that looks "proper" in the interior of a 210? The only decent-looking HU I can find is made by Nakamichi, and doesn't come with satellite radio controls.

The newer Alpine stuff generally matches, although I've read some complaints about poor quality. The Alpine may be XM only...don't know about Sirius.

I don't think Crutchfield has speaker size data for the W210, at least not for the 1998 model year...
