.......smooth. I couldn't believe how smooth and solid my little E was. Couldn't keep her there for very long for fear of the State Troopers, but it sure felt nice to open her up and see just how she handled. I wish we had an Autobahn.

Talking C-180 Over 100 MPH on M25 and M11

I was in UK last week. Rented MB C-180 and drove from London to Cambridge on M25 and M11 [M=Motorway].

Little C-180 handle very well over 100 MPH. Most of the Brits drive very low CC cars to save the fuel.

I drow C-180 for 288 miles total and I have to put about 32 liters of petrol [Gas]. Quit a good milage on MB.

I can just dream how my W210 will do on Autoban.

In 2003 when I was in Frankfurt, I noticed that even on Autoban now they have put speed limit during morning and evening rush hours.

I seen couple of new W211 E220 CDI on motorways also. In London up scale area I seen some W220 S200.

I don't see these small engine E and S Class in US. Also I don't see any CDI diesel in California, I don't know why

Got the CDI to 130 before I ran out of courage... it was on Indian reservation, and Queen Creek road is smooth as the Autobahn... but you never know when an animal or something is going to run out on the road!

I was at 3700RPM, with throttle remaining and about 1000RPM to redline.

It's true what they say about the Benz being designed for high speed cruise.. this car may as well have just been a Honda doing 65 as far as I could tell inside.

Highest average speed I achieved in my 210 was 117.4 mph a couple years ago...92 miles in 47 minutes in the early hours of the morning. After a while, found the car be too floaty in the sweepers with tired stock Boges, so replaced with Bilstein HD's and it's rock solid now (but rides a bit more like a Bimmer). However, nothing I've ever driven is as effortless at ANY speed as a newer Mercedes CL. Even the 220 S-Class feels like a piece of ***** compared to the CL. You could be putzing along at 150mph in that car and not even know it!

I ran my W210 to 140mph (and probably some change) on the way to Vegas last week. Throttle still have way to go & car is rock solid stable, but I got chicken and couldn't press further (not to mention by that speed, I already outgun the new TL which raced along). The combination of Bilstein HD and low-profit F1 tire seem to handle high speed w/ no problem at all.

W/o speed limiter remove, car seem to max out at around 130mhp (but feel like running out of juice at ~120mhp). ECU & air-intake mod take car of these two problems.

I've never taken my W211 pass 120mhp. Doesn't feel as stable & confident as the W210 at high speed, probaly due to stock suspension a bit soft & Michelin Primacy 17" not as sticky as F1 tires.

Btw, don't go pass 100mhp unless you're equipped with best radar detector out there (V1, X40, P8500)

Got to drive my E430 on the Autobahn when I picked it up in Germany back in 2000. Car was brand new, I asked the technician who presented me with the car how fast I could drive it. He said short bursts of speed would not hurt it. I got to 130 mph coming into Munich on the last day of the trip. Have never driven it much over 100 mph since. Interstates too damn crowded and too many cops. Was fun while it lasted.

I race a 2004 and up Acura TL from 70 mph to 120 mph last weekend at 1 PM, we are only cars on the freeway within one mile ! At 120 mph, he is like 5-6 car behind me and I am still pulling ! Love my E420 V8 on the freeway !!
