Totalled by a Ford: update
2000 E430 from Bill Evans at Big Bucks in Jamaica NY - $15000
(Fantastic people to work with and a fantastic deal)
Shipping by DAS to Huntsville AL - $1080
Replacing 1 wheel and tire from the wreck - $300
Replacing front grille from Parts Train - $84 Big bucks picking up the tab
Replacing mud flap from Benz dealer - $48 DAS picking up the tab
Having my rear end back into a benz instead of that sorry awful rental- Priceless!!
Attached photos show my outgoing 97 and my new (to me) 2000

Can U tell us what you've noticed OR are enjoying the most from the 00 that the 97 didn't have.
Good Luck and stay away from those FORDS.........
cheers!
The few things that are greatly improved include:
I like the steering wheel controls for the stereo
The on screen menus are very nice for mileage, etc.
The oil changes look like they will be much easier (the new filter location)
I like the rain sensing wipers for the intermittent mode
After the wreck I was in, I like seeing the additional airbags in the head-curtain and rear sides.
The ride from a car with 30K less miles is more superior (as you would expect).
I like the looks because of the color coded side skirts and lower bumper valences.
I have not found anything that I do not like yet!

Are those mud guards from Mercedes. Do you have any info about them? Price, part number? And do you like the way they look?
Thanks.

Good deal
I showed your pics to my wife. I bought my W210 for the safety, she bought it for the hood ornament. I think this thread has converted her to my camp.
I think may get some even though they may take away from some of the appearance.

My wife and I got a good laugh from this response. She has accused me wrecking the car for the upgrade
I am happy how everything has turned out, but I would rather shell out some cash next time and avoid the change in underpants.

The flaps attach to the car using two clips and two screws. The screws go through the plastic on the inner fender wells. You would not know if anyone had ever installed and then removed them due to the small holes. And yes, you do need to remove the wheels for the installation. All in all I think it took me about 10 minutes to install one and 9 minutes was getting the jack under the car and removing the wheel.
