Built in Amplifier for W210

Guys,

I've been told that the W210 comes with its own built in amp. Prob with my car now is that the music/sound from my CD deck gets completely cut off from all my speakers, and i only hear really faint music/sound from the rear..sounds like low pitch bass. I was told that its could be a fail switch mechanism should the smp overheat or the wires gets screwed.

Anyone know what i'm talking about, and where this built in amp might be hidden in the car? Are there any ways to get it fixed?

the amp in mine was in the trunk on the driver's side (left side that is here in the US), tucked up by the trunk hinge. Once you get the inner lining panels out, you should see it up there.

Davo, since the first time i changed my front and rear splits with my head unit, I've utilised the old amp, coz the installer told me it was still good. I had this prob roughly about 4-5 months ago, and when i changed my rear speakers, I haven't had that problem again until yesterday.

Don't think its my head unit, but i'll try 45acp's advise and see whether I can find the amp at the trunk.
