2000 E320 Wagon
Wheel question

I have a 200 E320 wagon and would like to replace the stock wheels with 18's. I have found a set of AMG wheels that were originally on a 1994 SL 320. The specs are:

Front: Model HWA 129 401 01 02 Size: 8J x 18H2 ET31 Made in Belgium

Rear: Model HWA 210 401 02 02 Size: 9J x 18H2 ET35 Made in Belgium

Will these wheels fit my car and what are the concerns if any? Thanks!

Unless the offsets required are different on a wagon, the dimensions and offsets checks out - standard AMG E55 specs (need the wagonmen out there to confirm whether the required offset is different to a sedan).

Subject to the above, my analysis is as follows:

The rears are W210 E55 wheels, with a 210 XXX XX XX code, so will fit for sure.

I believe the R129 SL's also use a 12mm bolt (like our cars) so that aspect qualifies them to fit. I've also doublechecked the AMG wheel book and both the R129 and W210 have the same order number for the front wheels, so they are identical (I presume in the old days, they had different codes).

No real concerns unless you're into tire rotation (given the staggered setup) or don't like an aggressive fender alignment. I'd say go for them if they are a good price.

Do you happen to know how much it costs to have the outer edge fixed and repolished if it has some minor curb rash?

Sorry, I'm not in the US..just know local prices but it is quite a simple DIY procedure if it is not too bad and you are quite handy...a dremel (for major nicks), some wet and dry and metal polish (like P21) and they will be like new. These have got to be the easiest wheels to restore that I've used.....

It is rather easy except for the clear coating on the unpainted lip that has to be removed. Once it is off, the lip will polish up nicely.

Yes ur right, I forgot, otherwise the repaired part will be a different color/shade to the rest....I had polished it all off so they shine like new...oxidation/tarnishing had not been a problem in my two years of owning them - with occassional polishing of the lips with car wax and sometimes metal polish they will stay bling bling

and I must add, they are the easiest to clean........boy, I miss not having to use a toothbrush and cleaning all 60 spokes individually, takes just as long to clean the wheels as it is for the entire car!........

Also, does the machined lip have a clearcoat on it? Will it have to be recoated if I get the lip polished?
