19 inch rims of on 4matic?

Hey guys,

Would much bigger rims ( 19 by 8.5) mess up a 4matic E? Someones selling a set in the classifieds and they sure look nice.

You'll need to have the same tire & wheel sizes on all four corners. If you stagger sizes, you'll put extra strain on your center differential, which may lead to premature failure. 19x8.5 will work front and back so long as the offset is within in the 32 to 35 range.

Tire size should be either 235/35-19 (0.7% difference from stock) or 245/35-19 (1.7% difference from stock; 245 is the size TireRack recommends for 19" rims).

The larger diameter wheels won't mess up your speedometer too much because the overall diameter of the wheel & tire remains fairly close.

If you go with the 245 size, you might have trouble using your stock spare tire because of the 1.7% diameter difference. Traction control might sense the speed mismatch between the spare and the 19-inchers and brake the spare.

Might be just as well... The fender gap with 19" and even 18 inch rims doesn't look right on the W210 without suspension lowering. The 4Matic rides about 1/2" higher than the RWD versions, and I'm not aware of any lowering kits for the 4Matic. (I think either Lorinser or Brabus used to make a 4Matic drop kit, but I don't think they still sell it.)

brabus still makes the lowering kit for the 4-matic, i'm gonna give them a call monday to get further details. For the springs, they quoted me $500, which isn't too bad at all, but i don't know what kinda drop that is.

Little,

Please keep me posted on this--sorry to dig up an old thread!

Maybe we could get a discount for ordering two sets? $500 is not bad at all if it comes with shocks or is a coilover kit.

The Tirerack suggested "plus" tires sizes include the weight capacity for each tire. In some cases, by going down the next width size, so does the overall weight capacity. I am not sure if this is the case here, as I have not reviewed the differences of 19" tires.
