w210 removal of shift knob

i am upgrading to a brabus shift knob...how the *(^&%%$ do i remove the stock one. it is killing me. thanks for your help.

just twist the bottom plastic piece anti clockwise and pull it out

tried that, it is not coming off, i twist it anti clockwise, but the knob is not coming off, does the bottom piece come off first?

things with and without wheels
there is a chrome color coller under the knob you need to turn that and the knob will slide up

maybe a pic of your gearknob? is yours the OEM knob or an aftermarket?

if it doesn turn you might want to use pliers and a piece of cloth to get some grip and twist it..

i had probs like that before, but i recently changed my knob to an original S class leather knob..happy with it..

it is oem, the bottom piece only turns anti clockwise like 90 degrees and does not fully come off, i tried pullling the knob off after turning, but it won't come off. please advice. thanks.

Pull it off!

The ring releases the base of the inside of the knob which clamps onto the shaft. Wiggle it a little and pull hard if you need to, maybe its just fixed in place with age.

And no, the ring does not come off. 90 degrees is all that is needed.
