Tranny swap question E320

Does anyone know if a 1998 E320 transmission (722.6) can be swapped into my 1997 E320 with a 722.6 tranny? Thanks!

I suspect you can, but it might require a control module / software update.

Just about every '97+ W210 model had a different transmission model number (722.6xx).

Ben'z has a good point. I'm guessing though that you've already located a 98 transmission?

I suspect that the '98 transmission is more likely to be compatible with your car than later transmissions. Mercedes made a number of reliability/durability improvements by 2000. However, if you get a '99 or later transmission, you'll lose the torque converter drain.
