Shift Knob Illumination?

Just bought a E320 1996, (Previous E32 735i owner) and I am not sure if the PRND indicator is supposed to be illuminated? Is there a bulb that might have burnt? If so can someone provide me with the instructions on how to replace the bulb.

Thanks in advance

I opened the trim (black plastic rectangular) around the shift knob and PRND32. How do I remove the gear box casing? Is it the flexible corrugated black plastic or are we talking about the solid plastic illumination PRND32?

Thanks for helping me.

You're gonna have to pop up the lower part wood grain panel, and then take out the autobox cover..I saw it being done once, but that was months back..I know it was an easy job, and it should just pop right off..there are two different bulbs inside...onc of it could be burned. Sorry i can't help you out further..good luck!
