As a man, I find it repulsive to read the manual. Especially when I can buy some gadget that will never quite get the job done.

Thanks for the tip!

In case anyone might be able to use the instructions; from the 2001 E320 manual.

Flexible Service System (FSS) reset instructions:

Following a completed A or B service the Mercedes-Benz Center sets the counter mileage to 10,000 miles (Canada: 15,000 km) and 365 days.

The counter can also be set by any individual. To do so:

Turn the electronic key in steering lock to position 2.

To call up the trip odometer and main odometer, press button 3 or 4 on the multifunction steering wheel until the display appears.

Press button 5 or 6 until the FSS indicator appears.

Press button 'R' on the instrument cluster for approximately 2 seconds.

The multifunction display will show the question:

'DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL? - CONFIRM BY PRESSING R'

Press button 'R' on the instrument cluster again, and hold until a signal sounds. The message 'SERVICE INTERVAL HAS BEEN RESET' appears in the multifunction display.

The new service indicator is displayed with the reset distance of 10,000 miles (Canada 15,000 km).

I need some help with this. I did the process above, but it goes back to Schedule A (which is what it was at to begin with) and puts it to 2400 miles. Is there something I'm Missing?

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT:
Never mind. I figured it out. When you hit the R button to confirm the reset, you need to keep it pressed till you hear the audible tone, at that time it will switch over to the next schedule (from A to B or vice versa) and reset to 10,000 miles.

For some reason I didn't catch that "hold" part the first time.

Don't have a Mercedes right now...
Does this procedure work on the 1999 C43's? What is the "multifunction steering wheel" that the procedure is referring to?

Thanks

There seem to be multiple methods of resetting the FFS. I have read the above threads but it does not pertain to the 1999 E430. My indicator flashes SERVICE DUE NOW when I start the car.
According to the manual, to reset the FSS counter:
1. turn key in steering lock to position 2
2. within 4 secs press button "O" ( SERVICE DUE NOW is displayed)
3. present status for days or distance is displayed. Within 10 secs. turn key
in steering lock to position 0. ( SERVICE DUE NOW is displayed)
4. Press and hold button "O", while turning key in steering lock to position 2
again. Continue to hold button "O". After approx. 10 secs. a signal sounds,
and the display shows 10000 miles for aprox. 10 secs. ( SERVICE DUE NOW
is displayed)
5. Release button "O" (SERVICE DUE NOW is displayed)
I have followed the above steps, but the only message I see is SERVICE DUE NOW. Also my trip odometer has been reset to zero.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The main thing that the procedure doesn't have is:

MAKE SURE ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED

Good luck

Reset A while trying to reset B Service B is now Lost!

I was trying to reset Service B - Finally the question came up _ DO you want to reset - I pressed the R to reset and it confirmed it, only to find out it reset Service A. Now I don't even see any reference to Service B. Did I reset It, I don't think so, How did this happen. Should I be able to see my miles/time I have to each service at any time? How should this happen?
