Anyone replaced rear strutts on a W210?
Anyone replaced rear strutts on a W210?
I think my rear strutts are due for replacement but wanted to see if it was something that I could do myself.
One of the things that I wonder is, do I need any special equipment or does the springs have to be removed to change the strutts?
I don't remember too many people doing it themselves.
Anyone have any suggestions or recomendations?
Thanks

You can change the rear shocks yourself without compressing the springs. You need to climb in to the trunk to get the upper nut of the shock. The bottom of the shock on the lower control arm. You need to remove a plastic shield on the bottom of the lower arm. No special tools are needed.

All you have to do is lift the car, remove some of the trunk interior to get to the top of the shock nut. You most likely will need a air impact to get the nut off, not because it is night, but because the shock piston will keep spinning. Remove the bolt on the bottom and remove the shock. I did mine and didn't even remove my rear tires. The whold job should take you one hour.
Good luck
Mario
Thanks guys,
For some reason, I thought we had strutts on these cars.
It seems to be a pretty straight forward remove and replace job.
Will attempt it over the holidays.
I like saving money if I can.
