I looked into LED bulbs for my W210 and other non-MBZ cars. The bulb shown in the picture will probably work in the front turn indicator, but I would not expect it to be brighter overall.
In order for and LED bulb to function properly in an incandesant assembly, more discrete LEDs need to mounted in multiple directions. A light bulb shines from the center out in all directions. The LED bulb here, only will be seen in the forward direction. Little or none of the assembly reflector is used. You will see a large bright dot when the turn indicators are on.
If you search the web, you find newer LED bulbs that have LEDs pointed in the forward direction and some facing sideways. In Wards Autoworld Magazine, an OEM company is producing a bulb that has LED facing forward, sideways, and backwards to take advantage of the reflector.
I would wait until these types of bulbs are more commonly available. If you still want to try, you can similiar LED bulbs at Pep Boys are most major auto parts stores in the "import" section.
Hope this helps,
