Key needs battery or synchronizing?

Yesterday, I forgot my remote door opener so I used my conventional "valet" key.

Today, my remote key does not work.

Maybe it's just a coincidence that the battery in the key just went dead. Does anyone know if by using a standard key (not fun, because only the passenger door has a keyhole) you then need to re-synchronize (also not fun because I need to look in the manual ) the remote key?

I use the flat, valet key about 20% of the time vs the Smartkey. No problems
encountered and they smoothly interchange and interact with the ignition. So
in your case it may be a coincidence.
