Windshield Wiper Noise

I did a search but cannot seem to find the solution.

Problem:
At around 60 mph there is an annoying vibration coming from the wiper blade.

I live in Florida where it rains a lot so Yes the blade is changed frequently.
Do I need a new arm with stronger spring? I have heard this is a common problem. Any help would be appreciated.

There was an issue with the plastic under the wiperarm that goes along the bottom of the windshield making noise while driving at highway speed. The fix was to install weather stripping on the back side of it where it contacts the windshield.

Get some foam weather stripping at Home Depot. It should be 1/4 inch thick by about 1/2 wide with adheasive on one side. Pull the plastic up at the base of the windshield at one corner and install the stripping on the back side of it. When you let the palstic go back in to place, you will not even see the weather stripping. The sound caused by it vibrating at high speed will be gone.

Wiper Noise around speed of 60 MPH and more

I am having wiper noise from windshield when driving my 1997 E-420 on freeway above 60 MPH. It is really loud some day.

Can someone explain in more detail how to install this weather striping to get rid of this noise.

Same problem here... but slightly different. I am hearing some vibration noises coming from the wiper at around 40mph. Goes away at higher speeds. At first I thought it was coming from the dash, but If I activate the wiper, the noise disappears.

Pull back the plastic up at the base of the windshield. Install the stripping on the back side of the plastic so that the weather stripping is between the plastic and the windshield. When you let the plastic go back in to place, you will not even see the weather stripping.

I had the same problem. Put the weatherstripping in and it worked perfectly.

The whole moulded black plastic part that goes from one side of the windshield to the other and is under the wiper. Look where the hoop stops and to where the windshield begins and the plastic part in the middle will need to have weather stripping on the bottom side where it touches the windshield.

Thanks! Helpful as ever I'll try this out tonight. Any specific size weatherstripping? I suppose this is something I can pickup from my local Home Depot.

I assume you put the adhesive side on the windshield itself? Thanks again!

Actually, it was easier to stick it to the back of the plastic so that it hides under it. So the sticky side goes on the plactic and no the glass. If you ever have to have your windshield replaced, the weather strip will still be there.

THANK YOU E-KLASSE - It worked.

Thanks for you help.

I fixed this noise issue. You were right; noise is not from wiper but from weather striping on windshield.

I used to hate this noise, now completly gone.

I did following.

There are 2 weather strips on windshield right and left, nothing in middle where wiper motor is.

On right weather wind shield strip (moulded black plastic) I remove one Philips screw on one corner side and slide weather striping to left and it came. Then I apply new foam strip on it and re installed it.

Now I don’t have this annoying noise from my windshield.

THANK YOU E-KLASSE.
