Child Window Locks

I have a 97 E420 and the switch for the Child Lock broke off. Dealer said I need to replace the entire Window Switch Assembly. Not only do I not want to do all that, but I don;t want to spend almost $400 for a little plastic switch.

Has anyone had this issue? Recommendations?

Thanks!

I still can't get over that I have to buy this whole assembly for a single switch!

Mine broke too....

Is there a way to bypass the switch? I was thinking about soldering the connection under the switch.

It will always be on, but that seems like an instant fix.

Just fixed mine

Mine broke but did not come off completly. I was able to remove the switch assembly and super glue the child safety switch back together. Right now it seems to be working great. As you can see in the attached photos, the black top of the switch came off the white body (very poor attachment design).
