Mysterious stalling

Ok, I need some help. Yesterday I had new tires put on my 99 E430 and when I went to drive the car away, it would not start. I had the battery checked (it was the original battery) and was told it was dead.

I replaced the battery with a DieHard "International". No problem. With the new battery installed, the car started fine and the problem seemed solved. I resynced the windows, seats, sunroof, etc and was good to go.

I went back out to dirve the car an hour or so later and now the car starts fine then stalls after about 2 seconds. Starts fine, then stalls.

Any thoughts? Thank you in advance. greg

After further reading on the site here, I tried the following: turn the key to the no. 2 position and hold there for about 2 or 3 seconds, then turn the key to the start position. After that, the car starts and seems to run fine. No stalling.

When I put the key in the ignition and just turn it to the start position (without holding it in the no. 2 position for 2 to 3 seconds) the car starts right up and then stalls.

Weird.

Weird.
Look at the fuel pressure with the inline fuel filter possibly being clogged.
