At my dealership I just said that I was looking for the thinnest rubber shims that sit on top of the springs, and they looked it up on their computer and found the ones I need. If they dont know what you want just make them search on their computer till they find it.

How do you know what spring pads our cars have? Are they marked so you can pop a wheel off and look; or is it a crap shoot?

My car sits pretty nice on 18" AMG's - but I wouldn't mind going just a little lower. I would like a more agressive look, but not a slammed look. While I think some of the bad **** rides on this site look great - just not my style.

Thanks in advance

You should be able to reach up to the perch and feel the "bumps" that tell you which pad you have. The are little (smaller than an eraser) and range from one to five - one being the shortest (5mm) and five being the tallest (21mm).
I think I have some pics posted elsewhere.... let me find one.

Here is a pic of a 1 and a 5 next to each other. You can just make out the bumps on the far side of them:

SDR;

I'd like to ask you a question: whats the best way to lower my '01 E320? I'd like to lower the front and rear by 1.25" to 1.50". Is it best to change out the OEM springs, or pads, or what do you recommend?

Thanks!

And BTW, thanks for the info SDR

Just today I was doing the brakes; looked up under the springs and saw that I have number 3's.

Thanks again
