2001 E320 4Matic Wagon has 137,000 miles.
Always maintained in SF by Stuttgart trained MB Mechanic.
Owned since 2007 / purchased @ 53K from Houston MB who sold
new to Dr. who traded for new MB. Drives like new as it should after
expenses of keeping it up. Prefer the drive & ride to the W212
Wagons.
80000 miles since 2007 / bought from MBHouston @ 58K & 6 years old.
Maintenance has been costly, but it’s a great
210 Wagon & it looks & drives as new.
FIRST MB
The mileage on my wagon is 138,000.
i bought from MB Houston at 6 years old with
58,000 miles, so I’ve driven 80,000 in this well-running Classic 210 Wagon.
SECOND MB
My 1991 300CE 24-valve Coupe has 189,000
miles, of which i’ve driven 50,000 in 17 years.
Totally restored with all Mechanical records
with one Master MB Mechanic in SF, this classic W124 is for sale...
Here is my 99 e320 with 260K miles. 20 years old. Still drives like new. I keep on top of the maintenance and plan on keeping her for as long as I can.
'08 CL600 with 152k km; '01 E430 4Matic with 428k km; '17 Porsche Cayenne with 103k km
2001 E430 4Matic with 250k miles (402k km)
I bought as CPO with 49k miles in March 2005. Just turned 250k miles a couple days ago.
Most recent repairs have been the following:
RF outer/inner tie rod (9/2019)
crankshaft position sensor (7/2018)
blower motor regulator (1/2018)
Fuel level sensor (2016)
CV boot re-grease (2016)
LF wheel bearing replacement (2016)
Aside from that, this car has been, by far, the most reliable car I've ever had. The past few years have been normal service. CV boots have been refilled numerous times
I do need to replace LCAs, front/rear shocks, shifter bushing, re-tint (original tint since March 2005), and a thorough detail (7yo son + Java interior = very dirty)
This vehicle is mechanically sound and it wouldn't have been possible if I didn't have an outstanding mechanic that I can count on. Shout out to Nas @ Euro Car in Saint Louis on Page Ave.
Bought this car new, and it has stood mostly unused while I was overseas many years.
Even on occasions where it had been parked for 2 years, it started and ran well.
Was under 30,000 miles until 2018, after which I had comprehensive renewal of all components (fuel lines, hoses, suspension, brakes, etc etc.) that are age-limited.
Was happy to find this forum today, when looking to find info about the best option for renewing my headlights. When in Germany I’d ask the many taxidrivers with W210’s what their milage was - the highest were somewhere around a million km’s.
Ahhh... the blind leading the blind here, perhaps? Newbie to Newbie, I highly recommend an elderly Jeep TJ: it feels like you’re going superfast at 45 mph with the top down, nice ride height, I get a lot of pleasure driving mine here in Florida, open air feeling like on a motorcycle but much safer (had a 73 Triumph Tiger a while but a friend got in a terrible wreck with it). I got the TJ about 6 yrs ago for $6k. 100k miles and no rust. Very practical vehicle and servicing rare and inexpensive, I can do some of it myself, and my four sons have learned some basic auto mechanics since it’s a precomputerized car.
Don’t know your age but if you’re a young guy wanting to drive fast, then an open Jeep is excellent on that score: A few hours of 65mph on the interstate feels like a real workout. Lol

haha. age69. Not looking for too much speed. And looking primarily for long distance comfort and efficiency.
I have zero miles on my E class b/c I ain’t got no E class yet
But (i suppose, like many have done), I come before you today to ASK FOR ADVICE!
I have long fancied an E250 bluetec, or something brawnier like a 535d or A6 TDI. But ever terrified to confront $10k repair bills
Maybe I am being too chicken?
Presently pondering an E250 2016 with 60k miles @ $25kCAD.
Please tell me if I am either smart to be chicken or dumb not to go for it?
THX!
Welcome. I suggest you post your question in the W212 section of the forum. That's where you'll find owners of the car you're considering buying. They'll be more than glad to help you. The W210 section is for a car that's almost 20 years older than the car you're considering buying.

WELL! At that fine age then it’s a different matter! Thought you might be a whippersnapper itching to get a car that would lead to trouble. Maybe even your wife would approve,
So then my advice is find what appeals most, preferably one with all the stamps in the service book, have the vehicle thoroughly checked out, and enjoy it.

OK, thx. I have contacted a few dealers and something funny happens every time: once i start asking about records, usage, etc, etc, they hit me with the ol’ SILENT TREATMENT.
i guess that is a good solid indicator of your basic slimy dealer?
Don’t know how the rules and taxes are in Canada, but I bought several cars in Europe and Scandinavia in the past. The Germans are sticklers about ‘full service books’, and the authorized dealers were most conscientious in my dealings with them. Over here I’d expect the same from most authorized dealers, or I’d avoid them. Is there VAT, or other taxes up there beyond what we have in the US? Used car prices in Denmark and especially Norway are highest anywhere because of their import duties and VAT, which more than doubles the price of many car and especially expensive models with added horsepower.
Year:1999
Model: E320
Country: USA
Mileage: 112k
Comments: Drips power steering fluid and leaks from rear seal (for 4 years, NBD but stinks when it hits hot surfaces). Air conditioner is problematic & been in 3 times.
