ASR When/why & what is it?
I have an asr button in my 210, I read about it I have an idea what it does I think the only thing is a fault light comes on when I press it. Is this normal and can I leave the light onn "all day" or is it bad for the car.

ASR (acceleration slip regulation) reduces engine power when you break traction with one of your rear wheels -- rudimentary traction control. With a 2.4L engine, the chances of you needing ASR on dry pavement are slim.
ETS (electronic traction system) takes ASR a step further by braking the spinning wheel to transfer power to the wheel with grip. Edit: ETS does not cut engine power like ASR.
ESP (electronic stability control) takes ETS a step further by adding steering angle sensors and yaw sensors to compare where the car is going with where the steering wheel is pointed. If necessary, the system brakes individual wheels to make sure the car is actually going where you want it to go.

sbarsap,
Yaw or steering angle sensor failure should trigger the ESP fault light and the appropriate DTC trouble codes. The codes for ESP are too numerous to list. (If you have a specific code, I can look it up for you.)

Mercedes-Benz E240 manual
Thanks
Well thats just super, I have gained alot from this website. I love the car but do they give "niggly" problems like this all the time? I have only had small things like fault lights and lamp defective and was able to fix them, today i think the people at the car test centre broke that brake switch as the fault codes for asr and bas are showing I need to fix this also but I believe its only a small thing. Thanks for your help.
