Spring Pad Question...

As I have previously posted, I just changed out my springs for a set of H&R springs but left the stock spring pads in place. My vehicle happened to have a #2 for both the front and rear. Can someone explain the pad size or size differences between the four that are availble for the front and the five for the rear? For example, would a #1 be shorter than the stock #1, and by how much? And does that translate exactly to the same amount of drop by using this pad?

I feel that the front of my vehicle could be slightly lower but not sure what the minimum gap should be so as not to incurr any fender damage.

You can see in this picture that the front wheel has more tire-to-fender gap than the rear.</DIV ALIGN=CENTER>

Thanks!

In my experience just go with number # 1 pad all around. Should give you 1 finger or less clearance in the front and back. Looking at the pic # 1 pad should do the trick.

Thanks to both JamE55 and E55Cent for the replies; I now know that a #1 pad would give me an additional 4mm drop. Looks like I need to save up for that furure 'minor' suspension modification.

I have heard that this can cause the suspension to creak. I am sure they are there for a reason

The pads act as isolators and they control the ride height of the vehicle based upon options installed at the factory. I cannot imagine running without them.

There are 5 thicknesses for the front, 4 for the rear.

the simple answer is 'no' it wouldn't be too low. all things being equal, the
gap would remain the same, provided your selection of tires is near same
as factory recommended (circumference). it's not the wheel size that
determines clearance, rather the tire selection. so if you have particular
tire size in mind you may want to mention that....as well as your preferred
ride heighth (wheel gap).

Tire size

My car is sitting on 225/35/20 in the front and 245/35/20 in the rear. Thanks for your previous response.
