I just did a 1500 mile road trip in one of those. Very different than the W210. I even asked one time was the window down in the rear, pretty noisy compared to a Benz. After driving it for a few days the ride and everything seemed fine, just too much plastic and too noisy for me.

ya my friend has one, so i know that its pretty plasticy, but the noise i love, and im also 17 so the w210 is cool, but im young so a 2 door car would be cool, but dont get me wrong the w210 is AMAZING, thats why im still debating this, any ohter thought on this?

Back when I was 17 and considering to get my first car, I did consider acquiring an Infiniti G35. Nothing wrong with the car, in fact, I thought it handled very close to a Mercedes (handling is the most important factor). I didn't have problems with the interior. I was looking at the 05 face lifted models too. In fact, the car had solid brass volume and temperature adjustment knobs. Very high quality. Infinitis also have very nice door opening and closing thunks, excellent exhaust notes, outstanding reliability (on the powertrain), etc. But what stopped me from buying it was the fact that it depreciated quickly, the new model would be coming out sooner than the C Class's new model (it's coming out in 07). And lastly, the closest dealer was 20 miles away, compared to my local Mercedes dealer to which we have a relationship being only 5 miles away.

I'm glad I made this choice. My suggestion is to stay with the W210 or trade to a C. Btw, the G35's brakes on the 04 and prior models are a hazard! The 05's is better.

I'd try to get a pre owned 05 with extremely low miles. In both Mercedes and Infiniti.

Good luck.

Have you considered the Lexus IS 250? That car in my opinion is better than the Mercedes C230 in many aspects and also handles very well.

ya i like the is250, and the c, but i want power and luxury at the same time, so the g35 and the e420 both offer those. I mean the is350 is beastly i know, but i dont want to spend alot on the car, because im going to college in a year, so ill probably only be driving it for a year. But if i keep the w210, for sure im gonna get the resonators removed, add a Green filter, replace the cats with magnaflow ones, and get a new muffler, so im hopping that will give me a good exhaust note and little more power. BUT STILL i cant decide between the g35 coupe or the w210. The g35 has an advantage in 0-60 time, 5 more horsepower, amazing exhaust note, and nice sporty look. But then the benz has an advantage in knowing that i've got a V-8 uner the hood, crazy luxury, more torque which doesnt matter cause the g35 is faster to 60, and just the fact that its a BIG BODY BENZ!!

The IS 250 actually has more power than you'd think. It feels faster than the C230. BMW 325i? It might look controversial, but underneath it's a great car.

The G35 also drinks a large amount of gas, especially for its performance figures. It drinks more gas on the EPA than your W210 E 420. 17/25. The E430 (which I assume the E420 is about the same) is 18/26.

The G35 is going to be outdated soon. That alone should drive you away from it.

Yea, I believe it would.

Had a friend with an older W209 E420. Been in the family for a 100k miles. He and a buddy of mine who just acquired an Acura TSX (which I'm not terribly fond of btw, wasn't that great for $30k) wanted to race him. Then they dragged in another one of our mutual friends who drives a G35 Sedan in automatic. The E420 (which is 10 years old) still won supposedly. I wasn't there to see it, but I know the Acura TSX guy was slightly upset that his car lost. He doesn't know how to drive anyways, he doesn't put air in his tires.

In any case, a Mercedes is probably better than an Infinti. My father still drives his Infiniti, he acquired it new and he still drives it. It's 10 years old. Still running fairly well, fuel economy is still the same as the day he first got it. Excellent exhaust noise, solid brass door handles, excellent door clunk noise when opening and closing. It's a good car. Does't handle very well though. That's why I prefer the Mercedes.

Actually, the W210 E420 actually get pretty good gas mileage for it's size and the engine. The G35 actually just gets the same mileage as the E420, but you won't have the low end pull of the V8. Don't forgot most likely your insurance premium will be much lower since the W210 is slightly older than the G35, and fact that it's 4 doors and not classified as a sports car.

Oh yeah, for the exhaust, I say go for Brabus, and give it some 18 inch AMG's and then drop it and then finally go for custom hid projectors for the headlights.

EPA Figures
City 18 MPG
Highway 25 MPG

Well regardless of which one you pick, you won't regret getting a G35 coupe. Just give it a nice drop and some 19 inch with a nice lip and you've got one sweet ride.
