Tire Size Help

I currently have the below setup:

Front ASA ST4's 18* 8 Goodyear F1GSD3 235/40 R18
Rear ASA ST4's 18* 9 Goodyear F1GSD3 265/35 R18

I want to go 245/40-18 up Front, would there be any difference in ride and would they fit or rub?

I'm planning to go with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's

Thanks.

You may want to stick with the 235s depending on you wheel off-set. If you go with the stock wheel and tire sizes from an E55 W210 then you should be good. If you went with 245 in front, then you should also go to 275 in back. For a standard E-Class it is best to stay one size under the E55 sizes or 235 in front and 265 in back.

Thanks E-Klasse.

Here is my offset for th efront wheels:

ASA ST4 18*8 offset +37mm

Will the 245/40-18 fit with no issues?

Thanks again.

An offset of 37 in front is a little high. The E55 has an offset of 31 in front. I would stay under the E55 tire size to avoid rubbing.

I agree with E-Klasse. The only thing I would add is even if you don't rub (but I think you will on control arm bolt inside) with the 245's, you would sacrifice steering response and fuel consumption as well.

Can I ask what the reason is? Does a standard w210 have less room in the wheel well than an E55? Would I have a problem if I run the same exact wheel and tire combination as the E55? Looking to enlarge *blush* my wheels soon so I got lotsa questions! TIA

Two very important reasons I can think of:

1) Yes, AMG's have their fenders rolled at the factory so can accomodate wider wheels

2) Unless you're a 430 or a real AMG (I see your's is a 240), the smaller power of the stock car doesn't need the larger tires and will merely slow you down, not to mention worsten the fuel economy a lot.

1) Cool, didn't know that.

2) It's ok, I'm not too concerned with losing power since there isn't much you can do with a 240 as far as the motor is concerned. It's a slow car and I can't help it. Though fuel economy is another issue. Thanks.

with that offset, 245 will rub.....if you hit a big enough dip in the road which
compresses the front suspension. the inside of the tire will impact the upper
control arm's infamous lug/nut.

to see this nut, turn to full lock. go to the tire which is c ockeded to the outside.
now look at TDC of the tire and the a few inches above. see that little nipple?
that will contact the edge of the tire if sized 245 under certain conditions. in
my case, it's been 2x in 4 months so i just avoid big dips in the road. i have
#3 pads and stock springs/shocks.

i'll just buy 235s when it's time for new tires. may be going with coilovers so
that the rubbing wont occur....plus, the coilovers can also be readjusted lower
and damping adjusted when i lower the car after i get new tires. but for now,
to avoid more rubbing, i'll increase the compression damping of the shock and
no lowering.

Thanks guys. I ordered the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's, from Costco, in the same sizes I have currently. I will post with the review.

I'm in Taiwan, and please don't suggest Kleeman as it's big hurt on the wallet... Must resist...

No, I am not a fan of Kleemann SC's and I'm not real sure they have an SC for the 240 anyways.

For starters, call this company and ask for a Sprintbooster...it will transform your car drastically.
