timing cover and oil pan cover replacement affects alignment?
I recently had my e320 4matic at the dealer under recall for the harmonic balancer, previously i had the balancer replaced, but there was damage to the timing chain cover and oil pan cover. The dealer replaced those parts. When driving it I recently notice my steering wheel needs to be slightly turned to the right in order to go straight, then I noticed that the invoice from the repair lists "R&R steering rack" does this mean they removed the steering rack to get to those parts? Could the alignment be thrown off since they did that? I'm not sure if the steering wheel was slightly crooked to go straight before or if im just being paranoid. Do you think i can ask them to do an alignment for free if they removed the steering rack?

The steering rack was lowered to access the oil pan...When its lowered or even removed the rack adjustments are NOT touched...The adjustments are the tie rod ends...and the rod ends are not loosed...only the upper mounting nut is removed from the tie rod end...Have the cars alignment inspected..as the rack MUST be centered with a workshop tool to then align the steering wheel...
