hey, alex....yeah, if you're dumping the tails with that egg shaped design on
the trunk lid side....over to matching horizontals on both pieces, yes, there
are many posts and pics archived in this forum.
basically, you only have to mod the lens which mounts to the trunk lid side.
you take a dremel sanding drum...or wide pencil tip and you carefully layer off
portions of the back side of the reflector which hits the metal work. after about
10 mins tops of this....trial and error....it will seat inside the recessed area w/o
getting all cokceyed. sand...fit...sand some more...fit...etc. DO NOT SAND
through the plastic and into the polished, reflector side!! it's kinda thin. so
just lightly shave....then insert into truck recess....repeat until done.
it'll all become apparent once you position the new piece into your trunk lid and
see where the high spot is on the plastic.

You have to swap the whole rear shelf with one from a 99+ that includes the longer 3rd brake light. I did this to my 96. I got a shelf from someone who installed a rear shade and had to replace the rear shelf for that. After removing the rear seat and head rests, the shelf is easy to swap. The head rests are the tricky part to remove.

Pull out the rear seat. Find the release levers for each head rest. They are accessed through holes that are covered by the seat back. Once the head rests are removed, there are just a couple of screws hold the rear shelf on. The rear shelf will just slide out. The shelf with the rear shade is 2 pieces so will have to take the front half off first.

The video helped me

Alex,
concerning the online hard drive....I thot it was you, I guess not.
I've been MIA on the site lately....got busy with my bizness.
About the installation, you don't need any special tool. You need to remove the plastic tack on, just pliers will do that...you might have to replace some of them.
**Very Important...remember to use windex to clean extra black glue(tar) left by the ugly cube-like 3rd brake light. (I 4got to do so, and have to go thru the head ache of removing those damn head ishh
