Electric seat not moving back
My 99 E300TD,
The front seats, both now, will not go backwards when the control switch is activated. I can use the memory presets and the seats will move back but the switch on the door will not ove the seat back. Can move forward and all other positions. IS this a switch problem??

Yes, it sounds like a problem with the switch to me. There was a post a while ago about repairing the switch when the solder joint starts to fail. You may be able to repair this yourself.

The front driver seat would not go backwards, when asked to go backwards, it would actually go forward.
Took it to the dealer to get it fixed, they said they changed the seat's computer. I think my service advisor might've mentioned that the seat's computer is under the seat and not in the switch. But I could be mistaken about this.
My service advisor also mentioned that sometimes if the car's seat still goes the wrong way, let it go all the way to the front, then push the seat switch to the front and hold it there for 30 seconds. This will sometimes resynchronize the computer.
Good luck.

My E-420 does this time to time. Last time I disconnected the battery and connected it back after 10 minutes and it got fixed. So try doing that, I hope it works for you.

My car does the same thing as I pointed out in another thread ,but no one at any shop ,corporate or independent, could tell me why? It's clearly a defect as evident by what's shown here and the other thread. As much as these cars cost to maintain,Mercedes should be better at telling what's wrong with their cars.....
One Thread:https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...=seat+backward
and it just is not the W210 model as shown in this other thread:https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...moves+backward
