Wiring Question - Cig Lighter

Can anyone tell me the wire colors and what is hot (vs ground) for the lighter in a 98 e320? I am wiring a Sat Radio to have a power feed and want to tap into this source (switched with the engine). I have not had this apart and want a clean, safe install.

Thanks!

I'm not sure on your 98 E320 but on my 02 E55 there are 4 wires coming out of the back of the lighter. The black wire with the yellow stripe is the +12V swiched source. The brown wire next to it is the ground but you should check it with a voltmeter just to be sure for your particular application.

Thanks. Mine was the same.

With the info from this forum and the tech forum I was able to do a very clean install of my XM radio (IMHO). I owe you all pics of this and my tires/wheels with H&R springs.

For more on this electrical install see:

Thank again!
