(W210) Side Blinking Side Mirrors
I have a 1998 W210 E430 Sport and wouild love the blinking side mirrors. . I would like to replace the entire mirror and not just by a cheap Ebay cover as I have a loose spring. Any ideas of where to pick then up w/o spending a fortune? Or is there a really good cover out there?
I also, peeled my mirroor back and notriced 2 wire looms in the housing.
Is it safe to assume the turn signal wires are already ran into the door? or are all of those wires for the motor etc.?
I do have the sport package w/ heated seats. . . Are my mirrors heated too?
Thanks Benz family,
-Todd

i dont think (may be wrong) OEM blinking mirrors were offered.
so if you dont want cheap ones, you may have difficulty tracking non Taiwan
ones. the guts (motor, mirror) probably gained through wrecking yard...or
if someone here comes forward because they have spare. certainly there are
businesses with motor/mirror innards for sale new, and used (from wrecks).
but insofar as cover is concerned, you my not have much choice but to go
with aftermarket.
I did the Taiwan retrofit and have been satisfied. the plastic is sturdy enough
on mine and the fit, good. to me that's 99%. the other is to pay the price
of matching paint job

mark:
some of the early W210s were pre-wired for folding mirrors even though
they were not offered as an option. to determine if the car is pre-wired,
just look in the OVAL connector (not the flat, wafer one) to see if there
are unused, spare leads. one does this by seeing which of the pins does
not have a matching lead in the connector entering (vs exiting) the mirror.
if you find the pair, great!...you'll not have to thread and wire through the
door...hinge duct...and into your kick panel. the twin pair will already be
there and awaiting connection splice to power and ground.
